Career and Executive Coaching
Executive and Leadership Coaching:
Many of our client foundations and organizations have first rate staff and volunteer leadership. Their need is less for a full fledged advisor, planner or evaluator than for an independent and skilled outsider. Oft times, the optimal service we can provide is to be that outside sounding board and advisor. This coaching can apply around a particular project, ongoing assistance to professional staff, or simply a periodic independent and experienced ear - and voice.
This service, used extensively in the corporate world, has been discovered in the foundation and not-for-profit sector as well. It is an efficient and effective method to improve the quality of professional and volunteer leadership training, and to identify and solve problems in a timely manner. Among those who might use this service are
- Volunteer leaders/board chairs
- Executive Directors
- New Grantmakers
- Project managers
Career Coaching:
Both of us have had extensive experience in staff recruitment, retention, supervision, and training. Our limited practice in this area has emerged from requests for consultations on particular career steps, workplace issues, and positioning for career change. Those interested in this service should understand that we do not do standardized "interest" or "personality" testing or training in job searching.
Richard Marker has developed a popular workshop entitled: "how to choose a meaningful career." Versions of this workshop have been presented for professional groups and for general audiences. Both of us work with individuals to evaluate self presentation skills and résumés, and to help understand how to use informational and job interviews most effectively.
